Here are the main UK 'standards' that relate to BIM

BS 1192:2007

BS 1192:2007 - Collaborative production of architectural, engineering and construction information – Code of practice To make the most of the collaborative working process, a common methodology for managing the data produced by and between all parties must be used. This should include the naming of data as well as a process for exchanging data.Read more ...

PAS 1192-2:2013

PAS 1192-2:2013 - Specification for information management for the capital/delivery phase of construction projects using building information modelling. This document provides information on the management of data produced within a BIM project environment, and supplements the processes and procedures contained in BS 1192:2007. As of summer 2014 work has started to adopt PAS 1192-2 as an ISO standardRead more ... Free download from BSI

PAS 1192-3:2014

PAS 1192-3- Specification for information management for the operational phase of assets using building information modelling This is a partner doc to PAS 1192-2 focusing on the operational phase of assets for both new and old buildings and like PAS 1192-2, it applies to both building and infrastructure assets. Read more ... Free download from BSI

BS 1192-4:2014

BS1192 part 4:2014 - Fulfilling employers information exchange requirements using COBie – Code of practice is available as a free download.

Draft ISO/DIS 16757-1

This draft Standard ISO 16757sets out a framework for electronic product catalogues to transfer building services product data automatically into software models. This standard does not include detailed specifications of what data should be included for particular items (eg fan-coils, pumps, tanks.)

Other standards

Other British Standards and associated documents with some possible relationship to BIM include (note that this is not a complete list and is being added to constantly):

PAS 55-1:2008Specification for the optimized management of physical assets
PAS 55-2:2008Guidelines for the application of PAS 55-1
BS ISO 55000:2014Asset management. Overview, principles and terminology
BS ISO 55001:2014Asset management. Management systems. Requirements

BS 8541-4:2012Defines properties and multiple levels of information including properties required for specification and selection and environmental, cost and social impacts
BS 8541-5:2014IN DEVELOPMENT will cover assemblies - the sharing of sub-models representing combinations of components and spaces covering naming, classification and nesting
BS 8541-6:2014IN DEVELOPMENT will cover product declarations - the sharing of data expected from product declarations, labelling and environmental tables. Aims to offer IFC and IFCXML and COBie representations incl waste data in standardised printed forms
BS ISO 12006-2:2001Building construction. Organization of information about construction works. Framework for classification of information
BS ISO 12006-3:2001Building construction. Organization of information about construction works. Framework for object-oriented information
